Mr. Noriaki Yamashita, President of Toyota Motor Thailand Company Limited, and Mr. Sontaya Kunplume, President of The Royal Automobile Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, alongside Mr. Suphakorn Rattanawaraha, Executive Vice President of Toyota Motor Thailand Company Limited, jointly presided over the “Toyota Gazoo Racing Thailand 2024” Press Conference on 24 April 2024, at TOYOTA ALIVE, Bangna-Trad KM 3.

Since 1986, Toyota Motor Thailand Company Limited has played a pivotal role in spearheading motorsports in Thailand. Throughout the years, Toyota has been a trailblazer in developing and popularizing the sport. This includes organizing racing competitions, establishing Toyota’s own racing teams to challenge in various racing series, fostering talents across all levels from aspiring youths to experienced professionals, and offering opportunities for Thai racers to showcase their skills on a global stage. Thanks to the unwavering dedication to the continuous advancement of Thai motorsports, Toyota has genuinely secured the position as a dominant player in the industry.

Mr. Noriaki Yamashita, President of Toyota Motor Thailand Company Limited, said in the press conference, “For Toyota, motorsports activity is a fundamental to make ever-better cars because we realize that the severe environment of motorsports is a place where “cars run, breakdown, get fixed, and come out stronger. And we believe that through the participation in the races, Toyota’s technology is improved continuously, and those improvements are reflected in the model line-ups.”

“In Thailand, this year marks our 38th year of Toyota motorsports. We are aiming to produce smiles and happiness for Thai people, through our endless efforts to make ever-better car. Now, we are working together with Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) and Toyota Motor Asia (TMA) including Thai engineers, to develop the cars under the severe environment of motorsports in Thailand. In this year, please continue to cheer on your favorite team and enjoy the excitement in our One Make Race of “Hilux Revo”, “Corolla Altis GR Sport”, “Yaris Ativ”, and the “Yaris” hatchback.”

“Furthermore, we are pleased to announce the 3 cars powered by carbon neutral fuel towards carbon neutrality, under the multi pathways strategy. Firstly, Yaris e-fuel and Ativ e-fuel will participate in our One Make Race. On top of them, Yaris e-fuel will participate in Thailand Super Series, and Altis e-fuel in Idemitsu Super Endurance. Mr. Suphakorn Rattanawaraha, Executive Vice President, elaborated on this year’s event, “This year, Toyota aims to enhance the advancement of motorsport via a collaboration between Thai engineers from Toyota Motor Asia (TMA) and Toyota Gazoo Racing Thailand Team to conduct a study and a human development in real circuits. We have prepared a total of 4 models: New Hilux Champ, New Hilux REVO GR Sport Wide Tread, Corolla Altis e-fuel, Yaris e-fuel. They will participate in many races such as Thailand Super Series, Asia Cross Country Rally, and Idemitsu Super Endurance. The findings under harsh environment will be applied with the development of new cars in the future, to ensure their capabilities in satisfying real customer usage.”

“This year, the Toyota Gazoo Racing Thailand is bringing fun to car enthusiasts and motorsport fans in the format of a festival. It will feature One-Make Race series and many entertainments. Starting with the one-make race series, four models will prove their superior performance: Yaris ATIV Lady One Make Race, YARIS One Make race, New Hilux REVO One Make Race, and the Corolla ALTIS GR Sport One Make Race. Additionally, we continue to emphasize and promote carbon neutrality in motorsports. This year, we have also added the Yaris Ativ racing car, powered by E-Fuel, driven by Pitcha Miya Thongchua. Furthermore, it would also be driven by a new member of the "Toyota Gazoo Racing Star Team," a prominent influencer known as “Pai Pai Orio”.

Mr. Suphakorn, explained about this year’s entertainment activities, “Besides the fun in the circuit, motorsport fans will also experience GR Performance events where pro racers across Asia showcases the vehicle’s performance in drift and gymkhana formats.
