International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and Toyota Motor Corporation cooperate to conduct a special event, “THE ROAD AHEAD: TOYOTA and THE IUCN RED LIST OF THREATENED SPECIES - The power of private sector engagement for biodiversity conservation.” The event will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Hilton Hotel, Sukhumvit, Bangkok, on Tuesday May23rd, 2017. Toyota Daihatsu Engineering and Manufacturing is a facilitator and co-host of this event.
Since 2015, IUCN and TOYOTA have been collaborating to broaden the scope of The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. The aim is to significantly increase our knowledge of the extinction risk of more than 28,000 additional species. Toyota’s support for the IUCN Red List is the first species conservation project to be implemented under the Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050, the company’s flagship programme to reduce the environmental impact of automobiles.
The guests that IUCN and TOYOTA invited to join this event are government, academic, NGO and private sector. IUCN and TOYOTA will share information about the partnership's progress to date, and initiate a discussion to explore the potential of the private sector to engage in biodiversity conservation more broadly.
